Dr. David Lunt, Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, discusses the Ocular Response Analyser

Dr. David Lunt, Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon from South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, recently presented his study 'Practical experience with the Ocular Response Analyser in a tertiary centre: will it replace the traditional contact tonometers?' at the World Glaucoma Congress.

In this video, Dr. Lunt describes the findings from his study investigating the accuracy and clinical utility of the Reichert Ocular Response Analyzer® G3 compared to Goldmann Applanation Tonometry.

IOP readings from the Ocular Response Analyzer G3 were shown to correlate strongly with Goldmann (R = 0.951) and 98% of measurements were within 3 mmHg of Goldmann derived IOP values.

Dr. Lunt explains that the Reichert ORA G3 is;

> Subject to less interoperator variability than Goldmann

> Less challenging to use

> Offers reduced risk of infection transmission

> Does not require topical anaesthesia

> Does not require the use of consumables

> Provides cost savings over other methods of tonometry

Using Ocular Response Analyzer G3 for IOP measurements could offer an invaluable solution for seeing an ever increasing number of patients safely and effectively, especially in virtual glaucoma clinics.
